TRPO (1-dihexylphosphoryloctane) extractant is a liquid phosphine oxide. Its potential application lies in extracting organic and inorganic solutes from aqueous solutions, such as the extraction of carboxylic acid from waste liquid and the removal of arsenic from copper electrolyte. Its main advantages are as follows: Even at low temperatures, it is completely miscible with commonly used hydrocarbon diluents. Its high solubility enables it to be used in a high concentration and stable organic phase for extracting solutes that are typically difficult to extract with similar extractants, such as acetic acid.
